Taking care of and maintaining your surfboard
Your surfboard is exposed to all sorts of things that can cause damage to it. The sun, the saltwater, and sometimes rocky terrain which can cause scratches and dings. Keeping that in mind, in order to prolong the life and quality of your board, there are a few tips you can follow in order to maintain and care for it properly.
*Always clean off the old surfboard wax from the deck and check for cracks or dings. If any appear, have them repaired as soon as possible. If water enters your board it can cause delamination and weigh your board down as well.
*Always keep your surfboard in a board bag when it's not it use. The sun and the heat weaken a board's fibreglass coating, and this is what causes a yellow colour to appear (which you've probably seen somewhere before).
*Have a surfboard rack installed on your wall in your garage or somewhere safe so that you have somewhere to put it where it won't get bumped or damaged. Also make sure that where you store your board it's cool and shady, so your board won't be affected by the heat.
You want your surfboard to last a long time. Looking after it will ensure your board will stay in good condition, and perform well every time.
